【Participants Wanted】Discover NOH — A Winter Workshop Exploring the Spirit of Noh on Sado Island

Experience Workshop
2026.01.06

As a related program of the Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival – Winter Season, we are pleased to present “Discover NOH Workshop,” an experiential program where participants can learn about Noh, one of Japan’s traditional performing arts that has been preserved and passed down on Sado Island.

In this workshop, participants will watch demonstrations of Shimai (Noh dance) performed on a Noh stage, accompanied by clear and accessible explanations of the history and expressive characteristics of Noh. You will also have the opportunity to experience basic movements and gestures yourself, allowing you to discover aspects of Noh that cannot be understood through observation alone.

The program is designed for beginners, so no prior knowledge is required. An English interpretation plan is available for participants from overseas.

Enjoy a special opportunity to engage deeply with Japanese traditional culture in the quiet winter atmosphere of Sado Island.
