The Sado Island International Art Festival is coming to FURUSATTO, located in front of Joetsu Myoko Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen! This first-ever satellite event aims to promote inbound tourism. “Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival 2025: ‘The Journey Begins Here'”

 

The Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival Executive Committee (headquarters: TAACHI, 53-1 Ryotsui, Sado City, Niigata Prefecture) will be holding a satellite exhibition, “Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival 2025: ‘The Journey Begins Here’,” at FURUSATTO, a container town located at the west exit of Joetsu Myoko Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, as a pre-event for the Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival 2025 Fall Session (September 19th – November 9th) and Winter Session (January 23rd – March 8th), which will begin in April 2025.

 

This satellite aims to promote inbound tourism through wide-area collaboration between Sado Island and Joetsu Myoko, the gateway city on the Honshu side. It also proposes a new sightseeing route from western Honshu to Sado Island for international travelers visiting Japan for the ongoing Osaka-Kansai Expo. A variety of programs are available, allowing visitors to fully experience the world of the art festival, including exhibitions of artworks from previous festivals, gallery talks by artists, and hands-on workshops.

*Joetsu Myoko Station is the gateway to southwestern Niigata Prefecture. It serves as a key access point connecting east and west, approximately two hours from Tokyo, three hours and 40 minutes from Shin-Osaka, and one hour from Kanazawa Station. Sado Island’s Ogi Port is approximately two hours and 40 minutes by ferry from Naoetsu Port, making it a popular overland hub for travelers heading to Sado from western Japan.
