Exhibition Concept:Sado Island, where Professor Shinichi Takahashi established the foundation as an island of printmaking, is the setting for this group exhibition. It features four artists deeply connected to printmaking in this region, each pursuing new expressions through their individual sensibilities.
One artist deeply explores traditional woodblock printing techniques, delicately depicting nature and the lives of people. Another incorporates diverse materials and techniques based on woodblock printing, attempting free expression. And there are artists who re-examine the aesthetic of traditional woodblock printing from a contemporary perspective, pioneering new frontiers.
Through their unique expressions, we hope you will feel the diverse beauty of printmaking nurtured on this island, the rich creativity that arises from it, and the diverse possibilities that extend to the future.
